This ranch style staircase in Brooklands, Sale was in need of a full renovation. As part of the customer’s home renovation works the stud wall was removed from around the upper landing area.

Once removed it has fully exposed the stairwell, causing concerns for safety. A suitable modern glass balustrade was required to provide safety. The style would need to be in keeping with the contemporary style throughout the home. Ranch style staircases are quite a common design that we renovate. For customers with children saftey can be of concern with this dated style.

The customer chose a full staircase renovation consisting of solid oak newel posts, solid oak handrails and base-rails. The existing stair strings were overlaid with oak veneers, toughened glass was to be inset into the handrail without the need for glass mounting brackets. The original design did not have newel posts installed or the typical width of handrails. Accurate planning and design was crucial to the successful outcome of this project.

All stair parts installed were pre-finished in a durable clear coating that is hard wearing and requires no further finishing from the customer. Preserving and protecting the natural beauty of the wood for years to come.
