Update from old dark wood to a new oak and glass design
Glass Staircase Renovation in Macclesfield
The Requirement
The hallway to this property in Macclesfield was due a complete update. A new staircase design was required, the existing design was dated and in places parts had worn loose. Increasing natural light was an essential requirement of the new design, the new staircase would become a focal point across all three levels.
The Solution
Solid natural oak was the wood of choice, this design features square profile newel posts finished with flat caps. Together with contemporary profile handrails and toughened glass panels mounted on clamps. To the main and upper flight all strings were to be overclad in oak. Newly plastered walls, fresh paint and new carpets would complete the renovation.
The Result
An amazing turnaround in design. New posts professionally installed has corrected the old loose handrail issue. Toughened glass panels combined with natural oak has provided the additional natural light that was much needed. As all parts were pre-finished prior to installation, no further finishing was required, providing a modern maintenance free solution for years to come.
